Dean came to One on One as a result of receiving our news letter in his mailbox. He was stressed and uncomfortable with his weight. "I knew if I paid for the service, I would come," he says. Initially, Dean's fitness trainer, Tad Desimone, created a fitness program that encompassed a larger cardio component to help Dean shed excess pounds and body fat. He started at 210 pounds and quickly trimmed down to a lean 180 pounds. His program has since changed to help him focus on developing more muscle.
Dean has noticed tremendous strength gains. His bench press has gone from 135 pounds to 180 pounds plus. He jokes about being pleasantly surprised when he feels a new muscle that he never had before. While mountain biking this summer, he also noticed that the hills are much easier.
He credits his success to his trainer, Tad, and One on One Nutritionist Valerie Kowal in helping him to become more aware of his eating habits. At 2:00pm, he is not feeling run down at his desk, and his energy stays constant though out the day. Through Val and Tad, his nutrition knowledge led him to become more aware of his portions. "Simple things like selecting portions of meat no bigger than the palm of my hand stuck in the back of my head," said Dean. This came in handy when he was dining out.
Looking back, he comments, "It was actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, thanks to Tad and Valerie. Your people make all the difference."
