"I first started exercising when I met my husband Mike eleven years ago. Mike was so active that I thought I better get my butt in gear if I was going to keep up. I signed up for a gym membership and soon realized just how unhealthy and out of shape I was for such a young person."
My husband and I did a lot of travelling back and forth to Houston for work-related reasons. Over the last couple of years we both lost any sort of consistent healthy eating regime and workout program. I had been involved in karate for four years, but with all the travelling, it was too hard to keep it up. I knew I needed someone to guide and encourage me back onto the right track. I calledOne On One Ftiness and decided to get serious about my health again.
The most difficult aspect of changing my lifestyle was keeping it up when we were travelling. As soon as I would get on the plane, the battle in my mind would begin: "When am I going to have time to work out at the hotel, and how am I going to maintain good eating habits?"
Over the past year of training with Doug Bueckert, my exercise and nutrition habits have changed. If I'm out of town, Doug will create a workout schedule for me to follow, which makes my gym time on the road better managed and more consistent. Working out and getting that cardio in is now just a part of my day. I do it either in the morning or before dinner.
Foodwise, I go to the local convenience or grocery store to buy proper snacks to munch on during the day. This has allowed me to balance my energy throughout the day. What I've learned is to have the same thought process while travelling as I do at home. It can still be hard at times, but it is so much easier to stay on track now than it ever has been.
The most rewarding aspect of working out for me is having a better quality of life and that wonderful feeling of accomplishment when you reach your goals! I have gone from 28.34-per-cent body fat into the fitness category at 22.52- per-cent body fat. I've lost body fat and gained muscle that I never knew I had! I also no longer have the guilt and self-destruction when I travel. Overall, I just feel so much better about myself; it's great.
My goal when I first started at One On One Ftiness was to lose weight and get back to the size I was two years ago. With all the whining that Doug has to listen to in my training sessions, I have succeeded with reaching my goal and have been able to maintain a solid level of fitness. I lift weights with Doug three times a week and do cardio on the days in between. I originally signed up for a three-month package at One On One Ftiness, thinking I just needed a kick start, well it's one year later and I'm still there. I not only love the professional level of training that I receive but also love the people and how One On One is such a positive environment to be in. I would recommend it to anyone.
