Mark's Initial body fat result was 24.36 per cent
in November 2005. In April of 2005, his body fat
tested at 17.3 per cent.
For Mark Schulz, fitness has been the best medicine. Eighteen year-
old Mark Schulz came to One On One based on his doctor's
recommendation. Mark's physician wanted him to maintain an
exercise program to decrease his headaches and regain his vision.
Mark's primary goal was to be a normal young adult and be able to
function in society.
Not too long ago, Mark had been hospitalized for six months with
severe headaches and couldn't move. Prior to coming to One On
One, Mark tried several other fitness facilities. One On One seemed
to hit the spot. I asked Mark what made One On One different. He said, "It's the environment. David, my trainer, applies
non-stop pressure. He takes a hold-no-prisoners
approach. David doesn't let me stop, and now I'm
addicted."
The toughest part of Mark's training was running.
He couldn't rationalize the time it would take him
to run when he felt his time could be better spent
elsewhere. Always strategic, Mark had a plan. His
first passion is cooking, so he coordinated running
on the treadmill with watching a cooking show.
Even more efficient, Mark runs while doing work
on his palm pilot. Not something I recommend to
everyone!
At his heaviest weight in October 2005, Mark was
245 pounds. He is now a trim 210 pounds. He
feels energetic and excited to go shopping for
new clothes. Even better, his headaches are nonexistent
and he believes that fitness is "an effective
medication."
Mark works out six days per week. He runs five
days per week and completes two weight training
workouts with his trainer David at One On One.
He also completes up to three additional weight
training workouts on his own, and on the sixth day
he walks.
Mark attributes his ability to overcome his obstacles
on the path to better fitness to his stubbornness. "It
is mind over matter. You are the only barrier that
can hold you back or stop you from succeeding.
I've learned that you either do it for yourself, or
you are the only one to blame."
Mark will graduate from high school this June
and wants to look good in his tuxedo. His goal
is to continue to increase his muscle mass and
decrease his body fat. He will definitely continue
with his fitness regimen. "Exercising is not a have to
anymore; it is a want to!" |

Karla Laing knew something was wrong. “I have always been intuitive about my body but thought that the exhaustion I was feeling was a product of being a busy mother of a newborn and toddler.”
